Our trained volunteers gather information and evaluate the needs of the children they represent. These volunteers speak out in court, advocating for the best interests of the children and their families. CASA volunteers stay by a child's side throughout the case, advocating for reunification when safe and possible.
Last year, 938 children from Aransas and Nueces counties were in foster care. 527 of these children had a CASA volunteer to help them navigate the chaos of being removed from all they have ever known and more importantly from their families. CASAs help children in foster care maintain family connections and build their futures. Unfortunately, there were 411 children who were left waiting for someone to make time in their schedule and space in their hearts to be their CASA. Your support during the Coastal Bend Day of Giving goes towards recruiting more CASA volunteers to reduce the number of children who are waiting in foster care and increase those who are thriving with their families.
By supporting CASA of the Coastal Bend, you become a partner in our mission to change the lives of families and transform our community. Your generosity aids in breaking the cycle of child abuse and neglect, by providing dedicated support through a CASA volunteer who will focus on individual families' issues to ensure they receive the resources they need in order to flourish. In addition, CASA volunteers serve the role of a Guardian Ad Litem in court that would otherwise be served by an attorney, paid by tax dollars.
CASA hosts 45-minute Information Sessions every Wednesday at noon via Zoom. Go to coastalbendcasa.org to register. During these info sessions, you will learn about the role of a CASA volunteer and how you can get involved. Alternate times are available by appointment.
