Family Counseling Service has served the Coastal Bend since 1942. We have a long history of addressing community needs. Every year, we see an overwhelming number of individuals, children and families reaching out for services. In many cases, clients contact us seeking services for their entire family. This is a reflection of the immense need for mental health services in the Coastal Bend. FCS has continuously stayed focused on the best way to meet this need and we continue to see the impact of our services. In many cases, our clients have nowhere else to turn to for mental health services. Many are uninsured or underinsured and have fewer options for accessing the help they need. Funds raised during the Coastal Bend Day of Giving allow us to continue meeting those mental health needs, regardless of a client's ability to pay.

In addition to mental health services, FCS has a Crime Victim Services program that provides assistance to victims of violent crime and their families. Our caring Victim Advocates provide needs assessment, crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, follow-up, and information and referral in order to assist victims with their healing process and to re-establish a sense of safety.

FCS provides mental health services to Nueces and surrounding counties. Clients often seek help from us after struggling with life's challenges and feeling as if doors have been closed in their time of need. FCS welcomes all clients in a safe and comforting environment and ensures clients an open door to help them access services and start their healing process. Services are available in 2 locations: Corpus Christi and Kingsville.

In 2023:
Our Counseling Program provided over 9,000 hours of service to more than 2,000 individuals. 94% showed an improvement in overall functioning.
Our Crime Victim Services program 864 victims of violent crime. 49% were child sexual assault victims and 20% were victims of domestic violence.
