Founded in April of 2000, Mission 911 was named for both its street address, 911 Park Avenue, and as a symbolic call for help. Mission 911 began as a men's homeless shelter and evolved into a mentorship program for individuals and families. As Mission 911 recognized the overwhelming challenges faced by households in times of need, Mission 911 began to provide them utility and rental assistance. In the last seven years alone, Mission 911 provided over $1.4 million dollars of aid to households in crisis. Now in 2023, Mission 911 operates as a transitional living facility (set to end in 2024), a utility and rental assistance program, a clothing closet, and now, a holistic case management program. Although Mission 911 has seen success as a shelter, Mission 911 recognizes the need for holistic, client-led case management for vulnerable individuals and families in our community living in poverty. In 2022, Mission 911 began providing case management to provide them with access to caring solutions to aid them in transitions towards self-sufficiency.

Mission 911 Programs:
Peace of Mind Case Management Mission 911 provides residents and guests with holistic case management to bridge the gap between poverty and stability by providing vulnerable families and individuals access to mental and behavioral health care, economic mobility, housing, food security, education, and workforce development through the utilization of caseworkers and strategic community partnerships. In 2022, Mission 911 provided 16 individuals and 1 family with case management services. Mission 911's innovative approach to caring for vulnerable populations paves the way for improvement to the overall health and well-being of our residents and guests by helping them take a holistic client-led approach to healing to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. Mission 911 enables guests to meet their personal goals by providing them with resources and accountability. By helping guests achieve their personal goals, they are on a path forward to achieving their best selves and contributing to the overall health and vitality of our community.
Utility and Rental Assistance Mission 911's utility and rental assistance programs aim to aid families and individuals in need during times of crisis. Through our rental and utility assistance program, Mission 911 provides guests with the opportunity to have their immediate rental and utility needs met to help individuals and families stay in their homes and prevent a loss of services. Individuals and families facing challenges and in need of assistance will fill out a service request application which will be sent to our review department the same day. Our review department carefully reviews these requests and helps work with the guests to find the best solution to meet their utility or rental needs. All our service requests applicants to receive a response to their service request within 24 hours. In 2022, Mission 911 provided $256,000 of assistance to vulnerable individuals and families to help meet their utility, rental, and transportation needs.
Community Outreach and Education Mission 911 works alongside other community partners to identify and meet different needs in our community. During the holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, Mission 911 works with community partners to provide families with meals, Christmas Trees, and Christmas gifts. In 2022, Mission 911 provided over 150 families with Christmas Trees and over 400 meals at our annual Christmas Tree Giveaway. In addition to this, Mission 911 provided over 100 families with Christmas gifts.
